  1. FIRST-AID MEASURES

4.1 General First-Aid Instructions

 Inhalation

Remove victim to fresh air. Give artificial respiration only if breathing has stopped. If

breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Seek immediate medical attention. Signs and

symptoms of exposure to this material through breathing may include; irritation of the

nose, throat, airways, headache and dizziness.

Skin Contact / Absorption

Remove contaminated clothing. Wash affected area with soap and water for 15-20

minutes. If irritation persists, seek medical attention. Completely decontaminate clothing

before reuse or discard.

Eye Contact

Immediately flush eye(s) with gently flowing, lukewarm water for 30 minutes while forcibly

holding the eyelids open to ensure complete irrigation of the eye tissue. If irritation

persists, seek medical attention.

Ingestion

Seek medical attention. If individual is drowsy or unconscious, do not give anything by

mouth or induce vomiting; place individual on the left side with the head down. Have

individual rinse mouth thoroughly with water. Contact a physician, medical facility, or

poison control center for advice about whether to induce vomiting. If possible, do not

leave individual unattended.

Additional Information Warning: combustible liquid and vapour. May cause eye irritation. May cause skin and respiratory tract irritation. May cause allergic skin reaction.

Pre existing disorders of the following organs (or organ system) may be aggrivated by

exposure to this material: skin, lung, (for example asthma like conditions).

  1. FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES

5.1 Suitable Extinguishing Media

Carbon dioxide, dry chemical powder, appropriate foam, water spray or fog. Firefighting

foams, such as multipurpose, alcohol-resistant foams, are recommended for most

flammable/combustible liquid fires.

5.2 Specific Hazards Arising From the Chemical

During a fire, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and other irritating/toxic gases and fumes

may be generated. Vapours from heated liquid can accumulate in confined spaces

resulting in an explosion hazard. Closed containers may rupture violently when heated,

such as in a fire.

5.3 Special Protective Equipment for Fire-Fighters

Wear NIOSH-approved self-contained breathing apparatus and protective clothing.

  1. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

6.1 PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS: Keep terpene profile away from heat, sparks and open flames. No smoking. Ventilate site. Wear safety glasses, rubber gloves, and apron. Supplied Air respirators should always be worn when the concentration of the contaminant or oxygen is unknown. or wear NIOSH approved respiratory protection as appropriate for the potential exposure hazard.

6.2 METHODS AND MATERIALS FOR CONTAINMENT: Contain large spills with dikes or absorbents to prevent migration and entry into sewers or streams.

6.3 METHODS AND MATERIALS FOR CLEAN UP: Do not touch spilled material. Stop of reduce leak if safe to do so. Contain spill with earth, sand, or absorbent material which does not react with spilled material. Dispose it in accordance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

  1. HANDLING AND STORAGE

7.1 Handling

Maintain good ventilation. Wear safety glasses or goggles, rubber gloves and apron when handling. Do not eat, drink or smoke in work areas. Remove contaminated clothing and protective equipment before entering eating areas. Avoid prolonged or repeated exposure to concentrate. Wash thoroughly after handling.

7.2 Storage

Keep container tightly sealed. Store in cool, dry, secure, flammable storage area away from all sources of ignition. Protect from light, avoid uncoated metal containers, and keep air contact to a minimum. Incompatible with strong oxidizing agents, acids and bases. Avoid extended storage by using as soon as possible within designated shelf life.

7.3 Specific Uses

Concentrated flavor mixture for foodstuffs in which added flavoring is permitted. It is the user’s responsibility to ensure that the conditions and possible uses of the flavor conform to local laws and regulations.

  1. EXPOSURE CONTROLS / PERSONAL PROTECTION

8.1 Exposure Limit Values

There are no established exposure limits for these mixtures. These flavors pose no exposure hazards under normal conditions of handling and approved levels of ingestion. If misused in its concentrated form, the flavor may be irritating to the skin and eyes. Vapors or mist, in unusually high concentration generated from spraying, heating the material or as from exposure in poorly ventilated areas or confined spaces, may cause irritation of the throat and nose, headache, nausea and drowsiness.

Control Parameters: Not Applicable.

8.2 Exposure Controls

VENTILATION AND OTHER ENGINEERING CONTROLS: Normal ventilation is generally adequate. Keep airborne concentration of flavor low by enclosing production processes whenever possible.

EYE: Wear protective glasses, goggles or face shield. An eyewash and safety shower should be readily available.

HAND: Wear protective chemical resistant gloves during manufacture or handling of this concentrated flavor.

SPECIAL CLOTHING: Special clothing is not normally necessary when manufacturing or handling this flavor within a closed system. Wear chemical resistant full body coveralls whenever there is a possibility of splash or appreciable contact with vapors during manufacturing or handling of the concentrate.

OTHER PROTECTIVE DEVICES AND PROCEDURES: Follow good manufacturing practice.

RESPIRATORY: Work in well ventilated area. If irritation is experienced, approved respiratory protection should be worn.
